We recommend that you consult your (new?) Solicitor (Lawyer) who can then retain us to perform the work you require, we summise, for challenging your former Solicitor's work.

Be on guard though that challenging a Solicitor's costs can be an expensive process so you should only entertain such where a real issue of overcharging, or the amount of costs, justifies such a challenge.

Assessment costs are very dependent on the size of one's file. There is the filing fees (approx 1% of total costs in dispute), plus the Costs Assessor's costs (at $313.50/hr) if he/she decides to make such an order against you.

A short and informal Appraisal should be made prior to determine if it is worthy of a challenge both in respect to the costs of an assessment itself and, the possibility that the assessment might produce a larger quantum of costs to be paid.
